The Bristol Pitbulls have informed the EIHA and NIHL Management Committee for our intention to enter a team into both NIHL South Division 1 and NIHL South Division 2 for the 2021-22 season.
To support the move, the team are interested in hearing from any players, coaches, volunteers or sponsors interested in joining the Pitbulls family.
The move marks the first time since 2012 that the Bristol Pitbulls will have two senior teams in the National Ice Hockey League (then called the English National League). It will also be the first time since 2019 that the Bristol Pitbulls have competed in the third tier of British ice hockey.
Richie Hargreaves, joint team owner with Mike Hargreaves and Becci Osman, said: “With the 2020-21 season being wiped out due to the pandemic, we understand that a lot of teams will be re-evaluating their positions. However, as a team ownership group, we feel now is the right time for the Bristol Pitbulls to take a step up.
“At the same time, having a clear development path into that team is important to us. That’s why we want to keep a second team playing in NIHL2, so players can feel confident that Bristol is a place for them to grow.”
The move requires the Bristol Pitbulls to increase the size of their operations to ensure they can support running two teams. As a result, the team’s owners are inviting any interested players, coaches or volunteers to get in touch at email@example.com.
In addition, the team is also interested in hearing from any companies interested in sponsoring the team. A full sponsorship guide showing all sponsorship opportunities is available by emailing Richie Hargreaves at firstname.lastname@example.org.
