The Bristol Honda Pitbulls will be supporting the EIHA’s Pride Week at this Sunday’s game against Romford Junior Raiders by playing in one-off jerseys that will be available for auction after the game.

The jerseys will be worn to show the team’s support for the LGBTQ+ community and to make a statement that Pitbulls games are an inclusive environment where all fans have a right to be treated with respect.

Starting from Monday 9th January, the game-worn jerseys will be available for auction through the team’s Facebook page with bids starting at £70. Each jersey will be signed by the respective player and will come with a certificate of authenticity. Due to concerns around COVID, all jerseys will be washed before they are given to the winning bidder.

The jerseys will be available for collection by the winning bidder at our next home game or at the rink shop.

Note that replicas of these jerseys will not be available. The only way to get one is to bid one of the game-worn jerseys in the auction.

The EIHA’s Pride Week will run from 7 to 16 January 2022 with activities and promotions to show that hockey is a sport for all and a rink is a safe space for everyone.

From the visible signs such as helmet stickers, rainbow laces and Pride tape on sticks to clubs working with community groups supporting LGBTQ+ and other marginalised groups to share information and advice with their own fans to promote diversity and inclusion around the hockey family.

The EIHA and the teams, players and staff of the NIHL and WNIHL are committed to making ice hockey a safe and inclusive sport for everyone involved – for athletes, coaches, officials, staff and fans. We do not condone language or behaviour that targets a person’s sexual orientation, gender identity or other protected characteristic; we will continue to challenge such behaviour especially where it’s under the guise of ‘banter’. We believe that ice hockey is for everyone and will continue to share this message of equality.
