As we’re just 16 days away from the Hargreaves vs Hargreaves testimonial match, we have six more players to announce as playing on the 28th of May.

Firstly, representing team Mike will be Russ Cowley, Ross Bowers and current roster member Mason Lipsey. Up against them for team Richie will be Mike Smith, Adam Brittle & Mason’s teammate Sam Smith. 

Russ Cowley came through at Swindon, where he played with Mike and was a mainstay in the GB setup throughout the 00s whilst playing in the Elite League with Coventry, from 2001 (when it was still known as the BNL) right up until 2017, the final 5 season in the Midlands he was an alternate captain. After a season with Basingstoke, Cowley moved to Milton Keynes, where he is currently the captain of the Lightning. 

Joining Russ will be another icon of Milton Keynes hockey, Ross Bowers. Excluding 2008-09 where he featured for Basingstoke and Slough, Bowers has spent every other season in Milton Keynes, either for the Lightning or the Thunder, where he is currently an assistant coach. 

The Pitbulls’ leading scorer in 21-22, Mason Lipsey endeared himself to the locals with his impressive 24 goal return in 35 games this season. Before this season, Mason had come through the youth setup in Swindon, playing a couple of seasons with their 2s as well as stepping up this season to represent the Wildcats this season. 

Mike Smith is another local talent, he spent the majority of his career playing in Swindon, featuring for the Chill, Phoenix, Lynx and the Wildcats as well as a short stint for the Oxford City Stars. Mike finished his career playing with the brothers at the Pitbulls up until 2012 when he retired. 

Adam Brittle is Telford born and came through their youth programme, his performances there earning him GB youth appearances, before spells on the Isle of Wight with the Raiders, Swindon Wildcats, Milton Keynes Lightning all in the EPIHL, before spells with the Blackburn Hawks where he won two league titles and two playoff titles, a year with the NIHL Telford Tigers followed before finishing his career with three years at the Solihull Barons. 

Sam Smith is another 21-22 roster member who was signed on a two-way deal with the Wildcats, Sam came through the youth setup in Cardiff, playing for the Fire before two seasons in Basingstoke in the National League. Sam joined Swindon last summer and spent most of the season there, featuring 14 times for the Pitbulls.
