The Bristol Honda Pitbulls are happy to announce the return of four players as the 2s begin to build their roster for 2022-23. Brothers Josh and Zach Dolphin return alongside Stu Bates and 21-22 Players’ Player of the Season James Wood

Josh Dolphin has been a member of the Pitbulls organisation since 2014-15 after a move from Swindon’s NIHL2 team, the city where he had spent his youth career. Josh was a part of the double winning side in 2014-15 and put up his career high in points in the Covid-affected 2019-20 season (12+21 in 17 games). Last season JD scored 10 goals and added 12 assists in 19 appearances.

Younger brother Zach has followed a similar career path, having spent his youth career in Swindon, Zach moved to play in Oxford in 2013-14, before switching to the Pitbulls for the double winning season, Josh scored 4 goals and added 2 assists in his 18 appearances in 21-22.

Stu Bates joined the Pitbulls in 21-22, originally signing with the 2s but featured a handful of times for the first team after impressing Jamie Elson. Before joining the Pitbulls, Bates had spent the majority of his career in Telford, playing in the EPIHL and ENL for the Tigers and Titans. Bates had a year in Streatham (14-15) before taking a hiatus until this past season.

James Wood was the star of the Pitbulls 2s season last year, scoring 15 goals and adding 8 assists to lead the team in goals and points, seeing him pick up Players’ Player of the Year honours at Awards Night. His season is even more impressive asit was his first year of NIHL hockey.

The Pitbulls 2s are hosting a trial night on Tuesday 2nd August at 9:30, if you wish to attend please contact us at bristolpitbulls@hotmail.co.uk to register your interest. The session will cost £10.
