The Bristol Honda Pitbulls are thrilled to announce the signing of young netminder Tyler De La Bertouche after his departure from the Peterborough Phantoms.

The eighteen-year-old has Swedish heritage but is British trained, having come through the junior systems of Haringey, Raiders & Peterborough and will wear number 42 for the Pitbulls. Tyler’s development will be aided by training with the Cardiff Devils during the week.

De La Bertouche went full time with the Playoff winning Peterborough Phantoms this past season, starting 7 games while earning an .875 save%. The previous season, Tyler led the NIHL 2 South with a remarkable .935 save% over 18 starts, winning 14 of them.

On the signing, Bari McKenzie said, “I am extremely excited to be working with Tyler next season. He came highly recommended from Euan King [Cardiff & GB coach] and Jordan Marr. After conversations with Tyler, he is eager to take the opportunity and continue to grow as netminder. With the guidance of Kinger in Cardiff we will see the best out of Tyler, and he will be given every opportunity to showcase his talent and be a key part of the club for now and the future.”

On joining the Pitbulls, Tyler said, “I’m really excited to be joining the Pitbulls for the upcoming season. After speaking to Bari and listening to his vision for the team going forward it felt like a great fit for me. I look forward to moving down and getting to meet the guys and the fans. I’ve played in the rink, and I have to say they’re some of the loudest and most passionate around. It’s easy to tell that they care about their team, and I can’t wait to represent them.

“Being full time with Peterborough last year was great for me and my development, training with some top players and learning more about the league. Coming here I want to continue improving my game and trying to make sure I give the guys a chance to win every time I’m in net, and obviously the goal for the team is that we have to improve on last season.”
