The Bristol Honda Pitbulls are delighted to announce that Stuart Spells will be returning as the Bristol Pitbulls 2’s Head Coach for the upcoming season.

Spells guided the twos to a playoff appearance before falling to Basingstoke in the opening round.

This will mark Stuart’s third year in charge of the Pitbulls second team having taken charge back in 2022

Spells playing career began in the 90’s with the Romford Raiders, where the former net minder started to develop his craft.

He went on to have spells with the Chelmsford Chieftains, Invicta Dynamos and lastly the Milton Keynes Kings where he spent the final three years of his playing career.

He took up coaching with Bristol in 2022 and has guided the Pitbulls 2’s to a playoff appearance where they fell to Basingstoke Buffalo to round out their season.

He also coached a double header for the first team towards the end of last season, suffering a 12-6 defeat to the Hull Seahawks at the Pound and a 10-4 loss away from him at his boyhood side, the Romford Raiders.

Stu is thrilled to be back in BS10 and is looking forward to the season ahead:

“I am excited to continue my journey as coach of the Pitbulls 2 and be a part of what is being built in Bristol. The support I have received on and off the ice has been amazing and the opportunity to continue in my role was an easy decision to make”.

“Last year had its ups and downs but there is a lot of potential here and we are looking to build on last years successes providing a platform for players ongoing development while we continue to look at challenging for honours in what is now a very competitive league”.
