The Bristol Pitbulls are delighted to announce the signing of former AHL goaltender Tommy Nappier on a one year deal.

Nappier, 26, didn’t play last season but is back in action this season sporting the Bristol Pitbulls logo.

The St. Louis native began his playing career with his home town Blues at under 15 and 18 levels before progressing onto the Springfield Jr. Blues in the NAHL

Nappier shone putting up impressive with a 2.45 GAA and a .919 Save Percentage through 39 games at the age of 17.

The season after he appeared in 43 games across two sides in the USHL, the Chicago Steel and the Omaha Lancers. He averaged 2.4 GAA again that season before progressing onto College hockey with Ohio State in the NCAA.

Nappier’s career exploded during his collegiate career. He posted a save percentage north of .900 across all four seasons spanning 82 career games.

He won the Big Ten championship with the Buckeyes in 2019 as the starting net-minder (with a 1.84 GAA) with the like of Vancouver Canucks winger Dakota Joshua, Buffalo Sabres centre Mason Jobst and Philadelphia Flyers 2019 6th round pick Tanner Laczynski on the roster.

His side were the second seeds heading into the National Championship in 2020 before the season ended due to COVID-19.

Once Tommy finished his college career he was picked up by the Pittsburgh Penguins for their development camp but was subsequently let go by the NHL side.

He found his graduate home with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins in the AHL.

He saw action in 29 games across the three seasons with the side before leaving the hockey scene for the 23-24 season.

Bari McKenzie is full of praise for the 26 year old stating:

Signing a goalie of Tommy’s calibre is massive for us and the League. I now believe we have the best goalie tandem with Tommy and Tyler”.

“I’m looking forward to working with both of them and I’m sure the rest of the team is replicating that”.

“Goalies can win you games and Tommy is one of those goalies who 100% can be a difference maker in the Win column for us this season”.

Nappier has signed for the 24-25 season to be a part of YOUR Bristol Honda Pitbulls
