The Bristol Honda Pitbulls are delighted to announce the signing of young Forward Owen Smetham for the next 3 seasons!

The 19 year old joins his brother as they will both be playing at the Pound next season. Owen has been playing in Canada for the past 7 years where in his last season, when he iced for the Carleton Place Canadians at the start of the season and then iced with the Nepean Raiders for the other half, he was able to collect 9 points from 2 goals and 7 assists.

When discussing Owen signing for the upcoming season, Richie Hargreaves said:

“I’m excited about the prospect of working with Owen and bringing him in to join his brother for the next three years. He’s another player who has benefited from systems, structure, and valuable overseas experience—something that will no doubt contribute positively to the growth of our organisation.

Owen, similar in stature to his brother, is a strong skater who moves the puck well and reads the game impressively for a young player. He will bring depth and high energy to our team, strengthening us down the middle in the centre role, where he’ll be responsible at both ends of the ice.

Having depth in the line-up is key over the course of a long season—especially with injuries. It also adds a healthy level of competitiveness that keeps everyone on their toes.

We’re thrilled to welcome Owen to the #BleedBlue family!”

We look forward to welcoming Owen Smetham to the Pound in September and seeing him in a Pitbulls jersey!
