BUTLER MAKES IT A FOURTH SEASON

The Drive North Bristol Pitbulls are delighted to confirm that Canadian defenceman Tanner Butler will return for a fourth season in Bristol ahead of the 2026/27 campaign.
Since arriving at The Pound, Butzy has established himself as one of the premier defencemen in the NIHL National Division and a firm fan favourite. Bringing leadership, experience and offensive firepower from the blue line, Butler has become a cornerstone of the Pitbulls’ roster both on and off the ice.
Over the past two seasons, Butler has led all defencemen in scoring across the league, consistently producing points while driving the team’s offence from the back end. His trademark slapshot from the blue line has become one of the most feared weapons in the division, while his ability to deliver in clutch moments has produced some memorable overtime winners for the Pitbulls faithful.
The Manitoba-born blueliner’s influence extends far beyond the scoresheet. His leadership, professionalism and ability to play in all situations have made him one of the most respected players in the league and a key part of the culture being built in Bristol.
As he enters his fourth season in a Pitbulls jersey, Butler will once again be a vital piece of the team’s ambitions for the year ahead.
Rich Hargreaves commented :
“Butzy brings so much to our group both on and off the ice. He’s a proven leader, a great professional and someone who sets standards every day. His hockey IQ is outstanding and he has the ability to dictate the pace of a game from the back end.
Offensively he’s one of the best defencemen in the league, but what often gets overlooked is just how reliable he is in all situations. Whether it’s on the powerplay, penalty kill or protecting a lead late in games, Tanner is someone you trust completely.
The numbers speak for themselves. To be the league’s top-scoring defenceman over the past two seasons is a tremendous achievement. Add in the heavy shot from the blue line and his ability to score big overtime goals, and you’ve got a player who can change a game in an instant.
Having a player of his experience, quality and leadership in our line-up is massive for us. He’s a huge part of what we’re building here in Bristol and we’re delighted to have him back for another season.”
Everyone at the Bristol Pitbulls is excited to see Butzy back at The Pound for a fourth season.
