SHAW RETURNS TO BS10

The Drive North Bristol Pitbulls are delighted to announce the return of Josh Shaw for the 2026/27 NIHL National season.

The Bristol Pitbulls are thrilled to welcome Josh Shaw back to the club after three seasons with his hometown Swindon Wildcats.

Josh is no stranger to the Pack. He first arrived in Bristol ahead of the club’s inaugural NIHL National campaign as one of the country’s brightest young British prospects. Despite his age, he quickly established himself as a regular in the lineup, earning the trust of the coaching staff with his pace, relentless work ethic and fearless attitude. His performances saw him become an important part of the squad, contributing offensively while proving he could compete against experienced National League opposition.

He remained with the Pitbulls for the club’s second National League season, continuing his development at just 17 years old. Josh once again played a regular role, producing respectable numbers and showing the maturity of a player well beyond his years. His energy, willingness to battle for every puck and team-first mentality quickly made him a favourite amongst the Bristol faithful.

Following his spell in Bristol, Josh returned to the Swindon Wildcats to continue his development. Over the past three seasons he established himself as an important part of one of the league’s strongest organisations, making more than 200 appearances while gaining invaluable experience in all situations. Last season, he helped the Wildcats lift the NIHL National League title, adding a championship medal to his growing career and proving he knows what it takes to be part of a winning dressing room.

Now 20 years old, Josh returns to Bristol as a more complete player. Still possessing the speed and tenacity that made him such an exciting young prospect, he comes back stronger, more experienced and with an even greater desire to succeed.

Richie Hargreaves commented :

“We’re delighted to bring Josh back to Bristol. He had two really positive seasons with us as a young player and we’ve kept a close eye on his development ever since. He’s gone away, played over 200 National League games, represented Great Britain and, most importantly, got a taste for winning after helping Swindon lift the league title last season. That experience is invaluable. Josh comes back to us older, faster, stronger and even hungrier to succeed. He understands what it takes to compete every night and brings a winning mentality into our dressing room. He’s another important piece of what we’re building here in Bristol, and I’m excited to see him continue his development in a Pitbulls jersey once again.”

Speaking about his return, Josh stated :

“I loved my time in Bristol and always enjoyed playing in front of the Pitbulls fans. Coming back felt like the right move for me. I’ve learned a lot over the last few years, experienced what it takes to win a championship and now I’m excited to bring that experience back to Bristol. I can’t wait to get started and do everything I can to help the team have a successful season.”

Everyone at the Bristol Pitbulls is delighted to welcome Josh back to the Pack.
